Chicago’s Little Italy Festa 2026 Takes Over Taylor Street This Weekend

LITTLE ITALY—Taylor Street is trading regular traffic for Italian food, live music, carnival attractions, street bars, and thousands of festivalgoers as one of Little Italy’s biggest summer traditions takes over the historic neighborhood this weekend.

The Taylor Street Little Italy Festa 2026 is underway through Sunday, August 16, along Taylor Street between Ashland Avenue and Throop Street. The four-day celebration features five live music stages, more than 40 food and merchandise vendors, Italian cultural programming, cooking demonstrations, carnival rides and games, and family entertainment. Admission is free, with a $10 suggested donation at the entrance.

The festival began Thursday and continues throughout the weekend:

Thursday, August 13: 5 p.m.-10 p.m.
Friday, August 14: 5 p.m.-10 p.m.
Saturday, August 15: Noon-10 p.m.
Sunday, August 16: Noon-10 p.m.
Admission: Free, with a $10 suggested donation

Choose Chicago describes Taylor Street as one of the neighborhood’s defining corridors, while the festival celebrates the generations of Italian immigrants who made this section of the Near West Side one of Chicago’s best-known Italian-American communities.

“We are excited to be back on Taylor Street for another incredible celebration,” Onesti Entertainment President Ron Onesti said ahead of this year’s festival.

The food lineup goes well beyond a generic plate of pasta.

Current Taylor Street Festa food vendors include longtime neighborhood names and Chicago-area favorites serving everything from Italian beef and sausage to arancini, pizza, cannoli, gelato, and fried dough.

Bella Luna is serving meat and spinach arancini, toasted ravioli, vodka pasta, panzerotti, Italian beef, sausage, and fried dough, while Bacci has jumbo pizza slices, pasta fazool, grilled artichokes, and a steak-and-rapini sandwich.

Coalfire is bringing several pizzas, including soppressata honey and pistachio pesto with sausage, while Caputo’s has stuffed zucchini blossoms, sausage-and-pepper arancini, marinated octopus salad, and Sicilian eggplant Parmesan sandwiches.

For something sweet, Scafuri Bakery is serving cannoli, lemon ricotta raspberry cake, focaccia, and brownies, while Vero Gelato has gelato and sorbetto. Rosebud, Carm’s, D’Abruzzo, Freddie’s, and other vendors round out the current food roster. Menus are subject to change.

Five Stages Bring Music and Italian Culture to Taylor Street

Food may draw people in, but the entertainment lineup gives visitors plenty of reasons to stay.

The 2026 Festa includes five stages of live music and entertainment, with performers ranging from Italian and Italian-American acts to rock, tribute bands, crooners, magicians, and family entertainers.

The current entertainment roster includes The Bronx Wanderers, Hugo: The Ultimate Journey Tribute, Italian tenor Eros Lombardo, La Tosca Italian Mambo Ensemble, Panici Amici, Antonio Bevacqua, Tony Ocean, The Jersey Girls, Chicago’s Own Piano Man Band, and many more.

Festival organizers are also bringing in cooking demonstrations, cultural exhibits, artisan crafts, Italian merchandise, children’s activities, carnival rides, and games, making this more than a food-only street festival.

Taylor Street Is Closed in the Festival Area, So Plan Your Trip

Because the event takes over Taylor Street, visitors should expect street closures and temporary transit changes around Little Italy throughout the weekend. The nearby National Public Housing Museum specifically advises visitors to allow extra travel time because portions of Taylor Street outside the museum are closed for Festa.

The #157 Streeterville/Taylor bus is being temporarily rerouted around the festival but will continue to serve the surrounding area.

For drivers, the festival organizer lists parking through UIC near Taylor Street and Ashland Avenue, but spaces may be limited during one of the neighborhood’s busiest weekends.

The National Public Housing Museum, located at 919 S. Ada Street, is extending its hours until 8 p.m. Friday and offering special programming during Festa weekend. On Saturday from noon to 2 p.m., its free Remembering Taylor Street program explores decades of migration, demolition, redevelopment, and neighborhood history through oral histories and mapping.
