The Candy Hall of Fame Is Coming to Michigan Avenue — and It Signals a Shift on the Magnificent Mile
A new attraction is set to bring a unique experience to one of Chicago’s most iconic shopping corridors. The Candy Hall of Fame Experience is coming to 830 N. Michigan Avenue in Magnificent Mile, marking the largest retail lease on the strip in more than a decade.
The project will span 60,000 square feet across three floors, taking over a prominent space along North Michigan Avenue. The long-term 20-year lease represents a major investment in the corridor, which has been working to recover from years of retail vacancies and shifting consumer trends.
The attraction is being developed by the National Confectionery Sales Association, the group behind the Candy Hall of Fame. Established in 1971, the Hall of Fame recognizes key figures in the candy industry, including pioneers like Milton Hershey, Forrest Mars and H. B. Reese. Until now, it has never had a permanent physical location.
The new Chicago location will change that, offering an immersive experience centered around the history and evolution of the confectionery industry. Plans include multiple ticketed exhibitions, interactive experiences and a retail component, giving visitors a deeper look into how some of the world’s most recognizable candy brands were created.
While many details about the experience remain under wraps, organizers have hinted at a highly interactive concept, describing it as “more secretive than Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.” Additional announcements about specific attractions and programming are expected closer to opening.
The development will also include updates to the building’s exterior, including new branding, façade improvements and colorful lighting features, helping to refresh the visual presence of the property. The space will also feature outdoor terraces on the upper level, adding another dimension to the visitor experience.
For those following retail and development trends in Chicago, this project represents a positive signal for the Magnificent Mile. The corridor has faced challenges in recent years, but new concepts like experiential retail and entertainment-driven destinations are helping to bring renewed activity to the area.
The Candy Hall of Fame Experience is currently targeting a summer 2027 opening, adding a new destination for both tourists and locals and reinforcing Chicago’s role as a key hub in the history of the candy industry.
