The Carlyle Club Is Opening on Chicago’s Riverfront in River North This Summer

CHICAGO — Chicago’s riverfront dining scene is getting another major addition this summer. The Carlyle Club, a new restaurant from the team behind Dēliz Italian Steakhouse in Wicker Park, is expected to open at 316 N. Clark Street in River North, inside the historic Reid Murdoch Building.

The new restaurant will take over the former The Kitchen American Bistro space along the north side of the Chicago River, adding another high-profile dining option to one of downtown’s most competitive restaurant corridors. Early reports point to an August 2026 opening.

A New Riverfront Restaurant at 316 N. Clark Street

The Carlyle Club will be located at 316 N. Clark Street, directly along the riverfront in the Reid Murdoch Building.

The building itself is part of Chicago’s architectural and commercial history. Built in 1914 for Reid, Murdoch & Co., one of the country’s major wholesale grocers, the property used its riverfront location to help move goods through the city.

Now, the same riverfront setting is being reimagined for modern dining, cocktails, and patio service.

What to Expect From The Carlyle Club

The restaurant is expected to bring an energetic, upscale dining feel to River North.

Plans call for a 72-seat patio, along with 10-foot-tall double doors designed to create an indoor-outdoor atmosphere and give nearly every interior seat a river view.

The menu has not been fully released yet, but early details point to classic American fare with global influences.

It was also reported that the concept is expected to feature a full bar and patio, with owner Steve Gogolab targeting an August opening date.
